Promise to Protect, Pledge to Heal
The Archdiocese of Milwaukee is committed to maintaining safe environments for children to learn, pray, and grow. The Arch Safe Environment Office supports our parishes and schools and maintains the compliance of our archdiocese in our Promise to Protect, Pledge to Heal.
Every priest, deacon, parish or school staff member, teacher and lay minister that is employed by a parish or school and any volunteer working with minors in our archdiocese is required to meet three requirements:
- Attend a Safe Environment Education Session
- Complete A Background Check (must be done every five (5) years)
- Sign the Code of Ethical Standards and Mandatory Reporting Responsibilities Form
Follow these instructions if, I am a new Volunteer, Chaperone, Parent Volunteer, Coach, Catechist.
Follow these instructions if, I have already done my Safe Environment Training and need to renew my certification.
1. Attend A Safe Environment Education Session
Go to CMG Connect to make an account and sign up for a Safe Environment Education session. They are scheduled around the city to teach volunteers and anyone working with children some safety guidelines. A typical session lasts about 1-2 hours. This is required in order to volunteer.

2. Complete A Background Check
In CMG Connect under the Required Training Curriculum section you will see both the background check and the Safe Environment Education session schedule set up. The background check is free and takes about 5 minutes to fill out.
3. Sign the Code of Ethical Standards and Mandatory Reporting Responsibilities Form
A copy can be obtained from the school office or from our documents section below.
