Cold Weather Clothing
As we move into the colder months of the season, please remember to dress your student for the weather. Students are outside for recess each day (unless rain or temps at 0 or below) and need to be prepared with hats, gloves, boots, and a winter coat. If you need assistance with providing these items for your child, please let the office know.
St. Gregory the Great Christmas Tree
The classes will be creating ornaments to display on our school tree at the Holiday Lights Festival at Cathedral Park. Our theme for this year’s tree is “Jesus is the Light of the World.” The 2025 Holiday Lights Festival will begin on November 20, 2025 and last through January 1, 2026. Hope you can make it down to Cathedral Park during the holiday season to enjoy all the trees!
St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry
With the interruption in FoodShare benefits due to the government shutdown, we know many families may be facing a crisis in being able to purchase food. If you are in need of assistance with food, the St. Vincent De Paul Society operates a food pantry at St. Greg’s on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month from 10am—Noon. The pantry operates out of Tenpenny Hall. Enter at Door 11. If you have NOT used the pantry before, please bring a photo ID, a current piece of mail, and documentation for each family member. We serve all school families regardless of where they live. Please mention that you are a school family when you sign in. Bilingual volunteers are present to assist if needed. If you would like to talk with someone from the St. Vincent de Paul Society about other types of assistance, please contact the St. Vincent de Paul help line at 414-491-9768, or email us at svdp@stgregsmil.org. Our school madrinas are also willing to help Spanish speaking parents to make contact with the Society. We care about your family and we are here to help.
School Advisory Commission Membership Vacancies
This year we have had 4 members on our school advisory commission team, but a couple members are no longer able to participate. We are actually required to have a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 9 members on the commission. It has been difficult to recruit new members to the team, but the school commission is vital to the governance and sustainability of the school and is a mandatory component of leadership, accreditation and the school’s participation in the Parental Choice programs. School Advisory Commission is an advisory board for the principal. It does not require special knowledge, experience, or skills. It is for adults in the community who have an interest in the school and a desire to contribute to its continued advancement. I am strongly asking, urging, encouraging, and begging for volunteers to join the commission. Please call the school or email Amy Schlegel at aschlegel@stgregsmil.org if you would like more information.
School Report Card ★★★★★
The stars are in, and we still have 5 of them! St. Gregory the Great Parish School significantly exceeds expectations for the 3rd year in a row, as recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Our overall score is 85.3. The full report can be viewed on our school website.
As part of the state accountability system, the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) produces report cards for every publicly funded school and district in Wisconsin. These report cards include data on multiple indicators for multiple years across four Priority Areas (Achievement, Growth, Target Group Outcomes, and On-track to Graduation). A school or district's overall accountability score places the school/district into one of five overall accountability ratings:

For more detailed information about the creation and scoring for the report cards, see the Report Card Resources page.
